Magnolia Basement ADU Remodel
The homeowners wanted their basement to serve several purposes: as an entertaining space, guest quarters, and potentially as an Airbnb down the road, to take advantage of the basement’s private entrance. Challenges included an uneven basement floor and the need to replumb the entire house.
Another challenge – which had its rewards once installed – was transporting a 300-pound vintage commercial freezer door that serves as the door to the wine room. Now the more than 1,000 square foot basement serves multiple purposes. It has more than one seating area, a kitchenette with a full-sized refrigerator and dishwasher, a wine room, laundry room, a guest bedroom and a generously sized five-piece bathroom.
