Magnolia – The homeowners of this beautiful mid-century home wanted it to feel open, spacious and elegantly minimalist. The reality was their kitchen did not have the best storage, the rooms felt dark, and there were walls that the family felt separated the flow of their home. SHKS Architects worked with these clients to ensure that the space fit their needs, lifestyle, and design aesthetic.
The two largest challenges included taking out one load-bearing wall, replacing it with five large steel beams and working around the hydronic heating system.
These clients picked out lovely custom countertops, a desk area to sort out recipes and plan meals, and a beautiful range that serves as the centerpiece of the kitchen. The spacious floorplan and the long bar with seating modernizes this family’s home and makes it an ideal space to entertain.
