Capitol Hill Condo Remodel
After living in this condo for 25 years, the owner decided it was time for a refresh. Dark blue kitchen cabinets and old carpeting contributed to the dated and dark feeling the owner desired to change. The open concept floor plan lacked a clear flow and definition of each space. Harjo transformed and modernized the home, providing functionality and timeless finishes throughout the space. Storage was added wherever possible and the popcorn ceiling was removed, revealing a bright, warm, and elevated home.
Entryway
Although walls are commonly taken out during renovations, this condo remodel benefitted from adding one. A new wall now separates the entryway from the kitchen and living room areas. A built-in bench and cabinets provide seating and storage for coats and shoes.
Kitchen
Despite not having windows, flat slab putty-colored cabinets paired with white quartz countertops brighten up the kitchen space. The warm veining in the countertop and gold hardware compliments the warm tones of the LVP flooring. Mixing metals through the stainless appliances and the gold hardware contributes to the timeless feel of the space. Unknown to guests, a water heater blends seamlessly into the space by hiding inside a tall cabinet. Flanked by tall cabinets, the backsplash tile, highlighted by undercabinet lighting, serves as a focal point. The peninsula provides additional seating, as well as a lift-up appliance garage cabinet to hide everyday appliances. Formerly in a laundry closet that ate into the kitchen space, the stacked washer and dryer are now integrated into the kitchen by the surrounding cabinetry.
Bathroom
Warm wood cabinetry and warm gray floor tile contrast the brushed nickel plumbing fixtures and restroom accessories. The recessed medicine cabinet provides additional storage. In considering the owner’s needs, the former bathtub was swapped for a walk-in shower. The darker tones of the tile floor provide contrast to the shower wall tile and white walls but remain light enough to keep the feeling of a bright and open space.
Bar Area Upgrade
At the back of the entryway is a custom bar for the living room, featuring wine glass storage and timeless porcelain tile. The finishes mimic those of the kitchen, providing continuity and flow between spaces.
