East Magnolia Kitchen Remodel
This 1947 Cape Cod style house had a fair-sized kitchen, but the separation between the kitchen and formal dining room made it feel cramped and outdated. The homeowners wanted an airy, modern, open floor plan more conducive to social togetherness. By removing a non-load bearing wall, we were not only able to increase the kitchen footprint, but we were also able to create an open view from the front of the house to the backyard.
A peninsula with counter seating was incorporated into the design to further accommodate the family’s active and social lifestyle. The style of the kitchen is clean and timeless with painted white cabinets and light oak accents throughout to mirror the tone of the original hardwood flooring. The previous sink window was carefully infilled to allow for a perfectly centered range, and the sink was relocated beneath a large picture window, allowing for an abundance of natural light to pour in. The result was an inviting and inclusive environment that encourages socializing, entertaining, and enjoying each other’s company. The newly renovated kitchen subtly merges old and new styles, seamlessly bringing the heart of this 75-year-old home into the modern era while retaining its classic charm.
