Queen Anne Upper Floor Remodel
The upper floor of this craftsman home in Queen Anne lacked storage and a functional family bathroom. To bring in much needed storage, we added cabinetry in the primary bedroom, a secret bookcase door, and expanded the bathroom slightly to take full advantage of the house’s square footage. Tying in existing details allowed what we added to blend in seamlessly with the home.
Bathroom
What previously lacked functionality and storage is now a hall bathroom packed with as much storage as it could take. Reconfiguring the bathroom, and expanding into the hallway slightly, created space for custom built-in shelving, a shower niche, and a four-foot vanity. With this new layout, we closed off an existing window and added a skylight to bring in natural light. By mixing metals and using a neutral color scheme, the bathroom maintains the timeless feel of the home. Introducing wood in the vanity and shelf provides much needed warmth and dimension to the space.
Primary Bedroom
Due to the primary bedrooms sloped ceilings, there was a lack of storage and closet space. New built-in cabinetry maximized the height of the sloped ceiling and created convenient access to clothing storage. Through matching the original trim of the home, it feels as though these cabinets were there all along.
Secret Door & Stairs
What quickly became a favorite feature is the secret door in one of the children’s bedrooms, which opens up into a playroom. New stair treads and flooring upstairs tie seamlessly into the existing hardwoods on the main level. Continuing with the original character of the home, the stair guardrail received a refresh and a new pony wall at the bottom of the stairs provides a spot for kid’s to tie their shoes.
